Heerenveen's Brazilian forward Afonso Alves scored staggering seven goals in his club's 9-0 rout against Heracles and set a new Dutch all-time record.
26-year old Brazilian made his second season appearance against Heracles and swung to the second place of league's top scorers with incredible seven goals. He scored his first goal of the season in the 10th and followed with goals in the 17th, 18th, 68th, 70th, 74th and 77th. Gerald Sibon also scored in the 60th and 80th minutes in the biggest victory for Heerenveen in its 87-year history. Alves has been in dispute with the club in the early weeks of the new season and only made his first start on Thursday night as Gertjan Verbeek`s side crashed out of the UEFA Cup after a 5-1 defeat to Swedish side Helsingborg.
But he returned to league action with a bang.
The 26-year-old, Eredivisie top scorer last year, netted a hat-trick inside the opening 19 minutes and completed his personal haul after the break.
