Towering Brazilian striker Andre Lima has agreed to join Bundesliga club Hertha Berlin, leaving Spanish side Racing Santander in the doldrums.
Striker Andre Lima, one of the top scorers in the Brazilian league, has reached a deal to move from Botafogo to German club Hertha Berlin. The 22-year-old forward is expected to travel to Germany on Thursday to sign his contract and finalize transfer details, Botafogo vice-president Carlos Augusto Montenegro told a local radio station on Wednesday. Montenegro said the striker will sign a four-year contract with Hertha and Botafogo will earn about $1 million (¤740,000) with the transaction. Other details were not disclosed.
Andre Lima has 12 goals in this year's Brazilian league and is one of the competition's leading scorers along with Parana's Josiel. He will play his last match with Botafogo on Wednesday night against Corinthians in the Copa Sudamericana.
Andre Lima, who has been with Botafogo since the beginning of the year, will join three other Brazilian players at the German club - left back Gilberto, midfielder Mineiro and left back Lucio.
