Anelka eyeing a return to Spain

French striker Nicolas Anelka might be packing his luggage once again this summer, after it was reported that Spanish club Valencia are interested in bringing the former Real Madrid player back to Spain.

Nicolas Anelka has once again hinted that playing at Bolton would hardly satisfy his ambitions and is already seeking a move to a club that will play in the Champions League. The 28-year-old Frenchman was recently linked to a switch to Arsenal but the deal collapsed after the Gunners signed Croatian striker Eduardo da Silva. According to the reports Valencia have made an inquiry for the former Real Madrid star, while Anelka promptly reacted claiming that a move to Valencia would be more than fantastic: "The interest from the Spaniards is really touching. Valencia are a great club. Going over there to try to win La Liga and help the club qualify for the Champions League is very tempting," Anelka told L'Equipe.

Anelka moved to Real Madrid in the summer of 1999 for a then-world record 30 million euros. The then 18-year-old former Arsenal prodigy disappointed, scoring only 2 goals in 18 matches for Real Madrid and soon left the Iberian peninsula after agreeing on a switch to PSG only one year later.
