Young Everton striker Victor Anichebe has turned down an opportunity to play for England in order to play for Nigeria.
Lagos-born striker has progressed through all Everton's youth ranks and was therefore eligible to represent England, but the forward revealed he turned down an opportunity to play for England's U-21 team: "I got called by England last week. But I don't really want to play for them I want to play for Nigeria. Stuart Pearce had a chat with me and gave me his opinion. I took it on board but I feel Nigeria is better for me." Anichebe told the Daily Mail.
