Arsenal Start With A Win

Premiership giants Arsenal started with a win over Premier League newcomers West Bromwich Albion on Saturday as they comfortably gained a 1-0 victory at the Emirates Stadium.

An early first half goal from French international Samir Nasri was enough for the Gunners to start their 2008-2009 English Premier League campaign with a wonderful start.

Arsenal started the match brightly and deservedly took the lead in the 4th minute when a typical Arsenal slick passing movement was met by Nasri who easily slotted the ball, scoring his first competitive goal in his Premier League debut.

Arsenal dominated the first half and could have scored two or three more goals but Emmanuel Adebayor and Darren Bendtner were the main culprits.

Arsenal did lose some of their momentum and rhythm in the second half but were still the better side. West Brom, on the other hand, did give their all and at times looked to make their own breakthrough but failed in the final third.

So Arsenal start with a win and a good win too. Arsene Wenger must be gunning for the Premier League crown this season and now that they have started with an inspiring win, they should be as buoyed as ever.
