Uefa have not granted Atalanta the permission to participate in the next season Interototo cup, since Lombardian outfit doesn't meet "sporting, legislative, adminstrative, legal, infrastructural and financial" criteria.
Atalanta are enjoying a successful season in which they're currently occupying a respectable 8th spot in the Serie A, which should give them a right to participate in the next season's Intertoto cup. Despite Atalanta fitting all the "technical" crteria, Uefa poured some cold water on the Italian outfit explaining that the club does not meet "sporting, legislative, adminstrative, legal, infrastructural and financial" criteria. Atalanta failed to qualify to the Uefa cup as Fiorentina, Empoli and Palermo finished the season above them, but despite Uefa's denial Atalanta is believed to be lodging an appeal in the forthcoming days. As things are standing right now, only Sampdoria and Udinese fit criteria to represent Italy in the Intertoto cup, although according to sources close to Atalanta this matter is still far from closed.
