Spanish giants Atletico Madrid lost their first official match of the season with a 1-2 defeat at the hands of Romanian outfit Gloria Bistrita. Sampdoria start with a win in Bulgaria.
Atletico Madrid fielded a strong team in an away match in Bistrita with only Uruguayan newcomer Diego Forlan and Argentine star Sergio Aguero missing from the first-team regulars. The Romanians were 2-0 up before the break but in the second half Greek defender Giorgios Seitardis' stunner from nearly 30 metres gave Atletico the advantage before the return leg next Saturday.
