After making his first MLS appearance this past Thursday David Beckham was against absent in the Galaxy's 1-0 loss at the New England Revolution. The team was unwilling to risk his tender ankle on the unforgiving Gillette Stadium turf.
Beckham's absence continues to be a factor for the Galaxy, who are in danger of missing the playoffs for the second consecutive season. The California club are now 12 points back of 8th-placed Columbus Crew for the final spot. Although they do have five games in hand recent results do little to inspire optimism they will make much of them, their last three matches resulting in 1 point and 0 goals. The chances of the England international returning to the field look much better for Wednesday's SuperLiga semifinal on the grass of the Home Depot Center against DC United.
