Ricardo shines in Betis centenario win against Milan

Portuguese international goalkeeper Ricardo was the star of Betis's centenary match against European Champions AC Milan.

New Betis coach Hector Cuper gave debuts to all his summer newcomers, while an arrival from last year, David Odonkor, also started the match against European Champions AC Milan in a sold-out Manuel Ruiz de Lopera stadium in Seville. The match, which commemorated Betis's centenary, showed a promising new era for the Seville side under Hector Cuper's reign, as the Spanish club secured a win in the second half through a Mark Gonzalez penalty kick. Portuguese newcomer Ricardo made several impressive saves against Alberto Gilardino, while Gonzalez fired the ball past Milan's reserve keeper Marco Storari, who was only inches away from a switch to Betis before the club opted for Ricardo.

Betis Sevilla promised a surprise weeks before yesterday's spectacle and fulfilled the oath by launching the club's official radio station - Radio Betis.
