Bojan Krkic on his way into FC Barcelona's A team?

Published: 20 November 2006
by Igor Krstic

Spanish media currently speculate about a perhaps sensational move by Frank Rijkard. The Dutch FC Barcelona coach might try to integrate the 16 year old son of a former Crvena Zvezda player into his A selection, sooner than it was expected...

Krkic made his debut in FC Barcelona's B team this weekend
Reportedly 16 year old Bojan Krkic, made a sparkling debut for the Spanish giant's B selection this weekend against Huseca. Although he didn't score, the youngster convinced the Spaniards in his first senior team appearence. Spanish and international media even speculate, that Frank Rijkaard could be tempted to consider promoting the precocious teenager into his first-team squad already next year. As Rijkaard currently seeks replacements for the likes of injured trio Samuel Eto'o, Lionel Messi and Javier Saviola, the Serbo-Spanish "wunderkind" could be an option as a replacement, especially considering that Lionel Messi was at a similar age (17) when he made his debut for Barcelona's senior squad.

800 goals
Bojan Krkic was born in Linyola (Lleida), Spain on August 28, 1990. His father, who holds the same name, was a well known footballer in Serbia, where he played for Crvena zvezda during the 1980’s, but without managing to become a regular at the Belgrade giant. His son Bojan Krkic junior is regarded as one of the best young players in Europe and is reputed to have bagged over 800 goals at junior levels for the Catalan giants. The Spanish press, who calls him “Bojan Krkic-Perez”, due to his Catalonian mother, celebrates the little boy already as a “wunderkind”. The 16 year old with astonishing technical and scoring abilities chose to play for the Spanish U17 selection last summer, instead of opting for Serbia, but according to his father, the decision in which national team he will play at the senior level is not clear yet.
