Group B: Chelsea vs Rosenborg Preview

Published: 18 September 2007
by Extra Football

Chelsea are expecting Norwegian champions Rosenborg without influential midfielder Frank Lampard and forward Didier Drogba who are both sidelined due to injury problems.

Chelsea are clear favorites in possibly the most predictable match of the first round, even though Rosenborg are familiar faces in the Champions League with remarkable eleven participations. Jose Mourinho will have to cope without Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba and Claudio Pizarro, while Rosenborg will surely be more hit with the omission of experienced midfielder Roar Strand who will be forced to skip the match due to leg injury.

Head-to-heads

Chelsea and Rosenborg have never met in European competition.

Interesting Facts:

* Chelsea have won all three previous home games against Norwegian opponents, scoring 12 times and conceding just twice.
* Chelsea have lost only one of their last 21 Champions League games at Stamford Bridge.
* Rosenborg Trondheim have lost on all three previous visits to England, scoring only twice and conceding 11 goals.
* Rosenborg have won only one of their last 19 Champions League games.

Injury/Banned list:
Chelsea: Drogba, Lampard, Pizarro
Rosenborg: Strand

Extra tip: Comfortable Chelsea win.
