Cimerotic signs for Olimpija

Former Slovenia international Sebastijan Cimerotic sealed his long anticipated return to Slovenian Third Division outfit Olimpija from Ljubljana.

33-year old striker who was a member of Slovenian squad during the World Cup 2002 in South Korea and Japan, has agreed to sign for Ljubljana's fallen giants Olimpija, former 4-time Slovenian champions who were demoted to the Fifth Division two years ago when the club declared bankruptcy. Cimerotic spent last season on loan at Slovenian champions Domžale, but failed to seal a move abroad and therefore agreed to help his former club achieve return to Slovenia's top flight.

Cimerotic, who is still owned by Korean club Incheon United, will spend next six months at Olimpija on loan: "Cimerotic is certainly our biggest reinforcement in this summer transfer market. He claims he's fit, while his love and loyalty towards the club was never undisputable and this signing only confirms his desire to help the club," read an official statement at Olimpija website.

Cimerotic has previously appeared in 109 matches for the Ljubljana club scoring 38 goals. Former Lecce star is only one of several known players that have strengthened Olimpija's bid to achieve promotion to the Second division, along with his former international team mates Amir Karič and Miran Pavlin.
