Rangers land Cousin

Glasgow Rangers have signed Gabon forward Daniel Coubin from Lens for an undisclosed fee.

Rangers have strengthened their attacking line with Gabon striker Daniel Cousin, who signed a three-year contract with the Ibrox outfit. The 30-year-old forward scored 26 goals in the last three seasons at the French club but fell out of favour before the new season in France: "I'm very happy to be a player for Rangers. I'm really glad to play with this club. It's an historic club - I feel very happy and very proud. I am not 100% fit but if the coach asks me to play this weekend I will play. I saw Ibrox earlier today and it is a fantastic stadium. I cannot wait to play there for the first time," Cousin told the Rangers website.

Cousin is likely to replace Croatian striker Dado Pršo who announced his retirement at the end of last season, but will face a tough battle for a first-team spot as Spaniard Nacho Novo, French newcomer Jean-Claude Darcheville and Slovakian Filip Šebo showed impressive form in Rangers' preseason matches.
