Real Madrid's marketing director Jose Sanchez claims that Real Madrid made nearly 450 million euros during David Beckham's four years at the club.
Real Madrid's grief at David Beckham's decision to leave Spain and join MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy seems more than reasonable after the club's marketing director Jose Sanchez revealed that merchandising revenues for the English star brought the club no less than 450 million euros. The Spanish giants sold more than one million shirts with Beckham's name within six months of Beckham's arrival, while the money continued rolling in throughout the course of his contract, mostly due to Beckham's incredible popularity in the Far East.
David Beckham signed for Real Madrid in 2003 for 25 million pounds and turned out to be one of the most lucrative investments in the history of the club. The former Manchester United midfielder penned a five year contract with Los Angeles Galaxy during the winter break and will pocket nearly 250 million dollars during his stay in the land of "soccer".
