Navarro in Mallorca loan move

Published: 20 July 2007

Valencia defender David Navarro has put pen to paper on a one-year loan move to fellow La Liga club Real Mallorca.

However, the 27 year old will not be able to appear in a Mallorca shirt until mid-September due to the current 6 month ban imposed on the Spaniard by UEFA after Navarro's involvement in the fracas that broke out between Valencia and Inter Milan players at the end of their Champions League Second Round tie.

Valencia recently declared Navarro as one of three unwanted players at Mestalla, along with Asier Del Horno and Curro Torres. The arrival of Alexis and Ivan Helguera in Valencia almost certainly spells the end of Navarro's five year stint with Los Ches.

The centre-back seemed certain for a switch to Racing Santander, but when the deal broke down, Real Mallorca were the first to step in and acquire his services.
