Villa wants to stay at Valencia

Valencia's star striker David Villa believes his future lies at Mestalla despite the reported interest from Premiership clubs Liverpool and Chelsea.

25-year old forward also nicknamed as "El Guaje" has been targeted by both Liverpool and Chelsea, even though Valencia were reported to refuse to negotiate the possible sale for a fee below €60m. Villa, who raised in Sporting Gijon's youth academy and came to prominence at Zaragoza, has a contract with Valencia until 2013 with a buy-out clause of €150m euros: "My wish is to stay here. In any case, we will have to wait and see what happens this summer.'Not only this year but in the future because I am under contract and I hope I can extend it. In any case, we will have to wait and see what happens this summer," said Villa. He has scored 15 goals this season in 35 appearances and helped Valencia qualify to the Champions League, although it is believed that he performed below his standards considering he finished last campaign scoring 25 goals, one less than "pichichi" Samuel Eto'o.
