Asier Del Horno will spend next season on loan at his mother club Athletic Bilbao, which held an option for a permanent transfer at the end of the loan spell.
Former Chelsea and Valencia leftback has been made a surplus to requirements at Valencia, after the coach Quique Sanchez Flores publicly admitted that he lost confidence in the former Spain international defender. Del Horno's last season at Valencia was plagued with injuries, which kept him by the sidelines for nearly eight months.
Del Horno will re-unite with his former team mates at Athletic Bilbao, who are reportedly also closing on Barcelona's winger Santiago Ezquerro.
