Denilson de Oliveira, once the world's most expensive player, is reportedly ready to join Argentine club Newell's Old Boys.
Argentine daily Ole reports that Denilson is closing in on a switch to Newell's Old Boys, as the former world's most expensive player wants to taste more competitive football following his brief adventure in Saudi Arabian side Al-Nasr. According to Rocha, a former Brazilian player at Newell's, Denilson revealed that he would be very interested in playing in Argentina and according to the reports negotiations are already ongoing.
The 30-year-old Denilson became the most expensive player in the world in 1998 when he joined Spanish club Real Betis in a deal worth a staggering 35 million dollars. Denilson never fulfilled his potential and left the Seville side seven years later after scoring only 12 goals in nearly 160 matches. He moved on to Bordeaux in France but despite good performances decided to leave the club as he couldn't agree to personal terms.
