Argentine club Rosario Central confirmed the transfer of highly-rated winger Angel Di Maria and midfielder Andres Diaz to Benfica.
Benfica quickly found a replacement for Simao Sabrosa, who completed his €20m move to Atletico Madrid yesterday. The Portuguese giants have captured highly-rated Angel Di Maria, who was one of the best players at the recent World Youth Cup in Canada, as well as 23-year old midfielder Andres Dias. The Rosario Central pair are moving to Lisbon in a deal worth six million euros, while the Argentine club will still hold a 20% share in Di Maria and a 50% share in Dias.
The deal has changed Arsene Wenger's plans, as it was reported only a week ago that the Arsenal boss had already clinched the signing of talented winger Di Maria. Benfica are also expecting the imminent arrival of Atletico Madrid pair Costinha and Ze Castro, who are reportedly moving to the Portuguese capital as part of the deal for Simao.
Meanwhile Barcelona denied speculation that the deal for Brazilian fullback Belletti has already been agreed with Benfica.
