French champions Lyon have confirmed the interest for Chelsea's forward Didier Drogba after the Ivory Coast star said last week he's ready to quit the club.
Drogba has said in an interview for France Football magazine he would be interested in returning to the French football, even though he hinted only at a possible return to Marseille. Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas expressed an admiration for Drogba: "Everything is possible in football. Didier Drogba is an exceptional footballer who loves France. We had an asset [to make him come] here, Florent Malouda, who was playing for us. Unfortunately he has left for Chelsea. If we had to sign both of them, it is maybe beyond our means," Aulas told Aujourd'hui en France.
Drogba has issued a statement on Chelsea official website saying he regrets his recent comments.
