Dyer to be sidelined for the rest of the season

West Ham have confirmed that midfielder Kieron Dyer fractured both major bones in his leg in a League Cup clash against Bristol Rovers on Tuesday.

Dyer suffered a double break during a challenge by Bristol Rovers defender Joe Jacobson in the first minute of yesterday's League Cup clash at the Memorial Stadium. The 28-year-old England international had only just joined the Hammers two weeks ago and is likely to spend the rest of the season on the sidelines, the club confirmed.

This is the second major blow for West Ham, as French newcomer Julian Faubert suffered an injury in preseason and is expected to be on the sidelines for at least 4 months.
