We offer you some interesting facts about the upcoming European Championship which will be held in Austria & Switzerland.

Italy has the oldest squad, Russia the youngest
After the announcments of national squads for the Euro 2008 in wednesday, we can now draw some statistical conclusions. Roberto Donadoni managed to put togather the oldest team with an average age 29.57 while Sweden came in second with 29.35. Youngest teams competing for the European glory are Russia with 26.26 and the hosts Switzerland with 26,39.

"Oldtimer" Vastić
The youngest player comes from the second youngest team. Basel attacker Erenu Derdiyok only has 19 years, while second and third youngest players come from Croatia. Ivan Rakitić and Nikola Kalinić have 20 years of age. Austrian attacker Ivica Vastić, aged 38, is officialy the oldes player but only 42 days older than Jens Lehman.

Most players come from Bundesliga
While the last World Cup had most of the player coming from English Pramiership, most of Euro 2008 players play in German Bundesliga. A total of 56 players come from Germany, 44 from England, 40 from Spain, 35 from Italy and 29 from Russia.

Lyon and Panathinaikos "gave" most players
The clubs with most representatives in the Euro are French Lyon and Greek Panathinaikos, each giving 10 players. 9 players come from Bayern Münchn and Galatsataray and 8 players come form Real Madrid, Barcelona and Werder Bremen.
