Arsenal defensive midfielder Gilberto Silva is set to join Greek giants Panathinaikos, according to The Sun.
It has been reported in the British tabloid that the two clubs have been in discussion about the player and that a deal is close to completion.
The Sun quotes Arsenal's acting managing director Ken Friar as saying:
"As far as I know, the player and his agent will travel to Athens to meet with the Panathinaikos representatives.
"If Gilberto reaches agreement with them then we will reach agreement with Panathinaikos."
