Legendary Auxerre coach Guy Roux's return to professional football lasted for only three months, before the 68-year old once again decided to retreat from football.
Roux left Lens only three months after joining the club and has in the meantime sparked plenty of controversy in French football as he wasn't initially allowed to take the post due to his age. Even though he was eventually allowed to take charge of the club, his spell ended after five disappointing rounds in which Lens have yet to notch a victory: " "I've known about his departure for a few days. He didn't feel able to continue with us, in particular due to physical problems. Someone of his experience knows himself well. He felt that he couldn't continue anymore, so he will not. He did everything he could for Racing since his arrival. I regret his decision, but it should be accepted. He is extremely professional and I respect him enormously. And now, we turn the page," said Lens chairman Gervais Martel.
Former France star Jean-Pierre Papin was named as Roux's replacement.
