Ilhan Mansiz hangs up his boots

World Cup 2002 star Ilhan Mansiz officialy announced his retirement from the game at the age of 31 due to a serious knee injury.

Flairy striker impressed during the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea and helped Turkey reach the semi-finals of the tournament. Mansiz became very popular among Asian fans following his dazzling dribblings and eventually left Turkey for Japan in 2004, when he signed a contract with J-league outfit Vissel Kobe. He tried to re-instate his career in Europe at Hertha Berlin and Ankarugucu, but rarely played a game due to his continous knee injury problems which put him by the sidelines since his move to Japan. Mansiz became a popular face in Turkey and Japan and now intends to test him self out in fashion industry.
