Former Real Madrid striker Javier Portillo has agreed to leave relegated Nastic Tarragona and join Primera Division rivals Osasuna.
25-year old former Real Madrid prospect signed a two-year contract with Catalan side Nastic from Tarragona last summer, but contract also included a clause which allowed him to leave the club in case of relegation. Portillo will replace Serbian veteran Savo Milosevic who walked away from the club few weeks ago and is likely to replace another Real Madrid striker Roberto Soldado, who impressed this season scoring 13 Liga goals for the Pamplona side. Soldado is likely to return to Real Madrid after one-year loan deal although it is uncertain whether he will be offered a place at "los merengues". "I have been very happy at Nastic and would have liked to have stayed on if they had remained in the first division, but it wasn't to be," Portillo said.
Portillo was Nastic's top scorer this season with 11 goals, but couldn't prevent his team from dropping to Segunda Division after their first ever appereances in the Spanish top flight. Portillo was raised in Real Madrid youth academy where he impressed and broke several records, but always struggled to cement a regular place in the first team. Spaniard later spent six months on loan at Fiorentina, but started showing his potential one season later in Belgium at Club Brugge.
