Inspirational Sevilla forward Freddy Kanoute has extended his contract with the UEFA Cup and Spanish Cup holders to 2010. Terms of the deal were not announced.
The Mali international added another year to his contract with the Rojiblancos, keeping another of the key elements to the Spanish side's recent run of success. The 29-year-old Kanoute hit 21 goals in 32 La Liga appearances and scored in each of the last two UEFA Cup Finals.
The big questions for the Andalucian club are whether or not they can hold onto wing back Daniel Alves and, even without him, do they have the strength in depth and willpower to launch another title challenge after coming so close last term.
