Red Bull Salzburg joint soach Lotthar Matthaus was sacked on Tuesday due to differences of philosophy, which means that Giovanni Trapattoni will now take full control of the team's affairs.
Matthaus was hired alongside Giovanni Trapattoni last summer after the pair already worked together in the late nineties, when Trapattoni coached Matthaus at Inter Milan and later at Bayern Munich. Even though Red Bull Salzburg won the league with a big margin, the club decided to sack former Hungary coach Lotthar Matthaus, who had one year left on his contract: "Differences of philosophy meant that a good working relationship would not be sustainable in the long term,' said the club, who will play in the Champions League qualifiers this summer," the club announced in the official announcement.
Former Germany captain and World Cup 1990 winner Lotthar Matthaus has an extremely illustrious coaching career so far, which spreads all the way from Rapid Vienna in Austria, Partizan Belgrade in Serbia and Brazilian club Atletico Paranaense. 46-year old hasn't yet reacted to the club's decision.
