Middlesbrough have made it clear that Spanish midfielder Gaizka Mendieta is no longer wanted at the club and is free to find new shelter before August 31.
Gaizka Mendieta's spell at Middlesbrough has reached its end, after the English club made it clear that the former UEFA Champions League Most Valuable Player is no longer wanted at the Riverside: "We were amazed to read Gaizka's comments, as the club's chief executive Keith Lamb has held numerous talks with Gaizka, his agents and lawyers over an exit strategy for him. These negotiations have continued over a number of weeks. We thank Gaizka for his achievements in the past, but he has been told that he now has no future with Middlesbrough. We have been doing all we can to help Gaizka find another club and will continue to do so, but there is no chance of him gaining a place in the Middlesbrough squad," said a club spokesman.
