AC Milan have announced on their website that the transfer of Brazilian boy wonder Alexandre "Pato" has been agreed with Brazilian club Inter of Porto Alegre. A transfer fee in the region of $20 million is expected to be paid.
The 17-year-old Brazilian will travel to Italy on Friday to complete final negotiations on his contract and will begin training with the Diavoli on the 3rd of September. According to the official website he will not be available for competitive matches until the new year. The youngster's agent said: "Pato's first contract with Milan will last five years."
Pato has been the target of a frenzied transfer battle between all of Europe's heavyweight clubs but in the end the Rossoneri got their man. An outstanding performance at last year's World Club Cup and 3 goals at this past summer's U-20 World Cup pushed his transfer fee to the stratosphere. Pato will be joining a little Brazil at Milan, lining up alongside compatriots Kaka, Dida, Serginho, Cafu and Ronaldo at Milan
