As Slovenian users prevailed this month it cames as no surprise that Slovenia's national team goalkeeper Samir Handanović scooped July's Player of the Month award.

The first voting period reasonably saw Slovenian players being ranked high in the list, as users from Slovenia currently prevail amongst general visitors. Nevertheless, Samir Handanović being voted as Player Of The Month confirms the popularity of the Rimini Calcio's goalkeeper in his homeland which was enough to lift the award as Extra's premier Player Of The Month!
The rest of the names on the Top 10 list probably will not come as much of a surprise.. Brazilian wizard Kaka took second place, closely followed by Argentinian genius Lionel Messi, who once again reaffirmed his "next Maradona" tag with dazzling displays at the Copa America in Venezuela. Cristiano Ronaldo lies firmly in the 4th spot, while MLS "Story of the month" David Beckham landed one place under his successor at Manchester United.
