Sevilla vs AEK: Rivaldo returns to Spain

Published: 15 August 2007
by Extra Football

Former Barcelona star Rivaldo will return to Spanish soil in an exciting Champions League qualifier between Sevilla and AEK Athens.

Sevilla will enter their first Champions League qualifications without Brazilian defender Daniel Alves, who is currently negotiating a move to English giants Chelsea. AEK Athens will seek progress to the group stages with Brazilian newcomer Rivaldo, who joined AEK after falling out with the board at city rivals Olympiacos, and Spanish coach Lorenzo Serra Ferrer, who took Sevilla's city rivals Betis to the Champions League four seasons ago.

The two time UEFA Cup winners are facing a tough mission, since coach Juande Ramos will not be able to count on Julian Escude, Adriano and Chevanton due to injuries. Ivory Coast newcomer Seydou Keita, recently arrived from Lens, is expected to make his debut for the Spanish club.

Probable line-ups:

Sevilla: Palop; Hinkel (or Martí), Boulahrouz, Dragutinovic, Puerta; Jesús Navas, Poulsen, Keita, Duda; Kanouté and Kerzhakov.

AEK Athens: Moretto; Edson Ramos, Dellas, Geraldo, Arruabarrena; Zikos, Nsaliwa, Julio César, Manduca; Rivaldo and Liberopoulos.

Referee: Lubos Michel (Slovakia)
