Career in short: Nemanja Vidic came under the spotlight of Serbian press in 2001 when at the age of just 20 he became one of the standard first eleven players in Crvena zvezda Beograd’s line up. During his three year stay at Marakana as a professional he became the captain and already in 2002 earned a call up by the Serbian national team whose colours he’s defending ever since.
In 2004 Vidic left Crvena zvezda after 67 league matches and 12 scored goals and joined Spartak Moscow where he didn’t stop performing on top level with what he quickly ‘’forced’’ the Russian press to praise him as one of the best defenders in the Russian Premiership with solid performances and four scored goals in 39 league appearances.
But the main reason why half of European football giants are interested in him is the way he plays with the Serbian national team for which he got capped 18 times from 2002 until the end of international 2005 season and scored one goal.
At December the 27th 2005, Vidic made officialy the move to England. Manchester United bought the defender for an amount of 10,500,000 EUR from Spartak Moscow. Nemanja Vidic signed a contract till the summer of 2010 and played 11 Premier league games during the 2005/06 season.
