Kranjcar, Niko

Born: 13 August 1984
Position: Midfielder

Twenty-one year old Niko Kranjcar is rightfully recognized as one of the greatest Croatian talents that emerged after the end of Former Yugoslavia. For five seasons, how long his career is ongoing, Kranjcar has made an impressive performance in the ranks of both 1.HNL giants, Dinamo and Hajduk. Great passes, fine technique and some fierce shooting abilities, quickly turned Kranjcar from a ''kid with great potential'' to Dinamo Zagreb's leading star, as soon as in 2001 when he was just a 16-year-old teenager. From then on, until 2004 he made 85 games for the "Modri" and scored 19 goals, becoming even one of the youngest team skippers that this Former Yugoslav giant ever had. Due to the growing misunderstanding with the Dinamo management, Kranjcar had a ''change of heart'' in 2004 and he joined Dinamo's arch rival Hajduk Split. He quickly became the leading figure at Poljud and so far he made 45 league performances for the "Bili" and scored 12 goals.

In summer 2006 he joined English Premiership side Portsmouth.
