Details:

Arsenal were founded in 1886 as Dial Square, which was a department within the Royal Arsenal armaments factory in the neighborhood of Woolwich in South London. A year later the name was changed to Royal Arsenal to incorporate the entire factory. Five years later another name change to Woolwich Arsenal to reflect the entire neighborhood and a final change to just Arsenal in 1914 after the club moved to the North London neighborhood of Highbury. The Gunners nickname is a reference to the cannon in the club's emblem and their origins in an armaments factory while fans are often referred to as Gooners, a pun on the typical Gunners nickname. The red jerseys were adopted after a charitable donation from red-clad Nottingham Forest. The white sleeves were introduced in the 1930s by legendary manager Herbert Chapman.
