Details:
Bolton Wanderers were founded as Christ Church by the vicar of Christ Church Sunday School in the city of Bolton. After several years club members could no longer meet at the school and had to 'wander' to a nearby tavern for meetings. The club's name was changed in 1877 to reflect this. Won the first FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium, the famous 'White Horse Final'. It was given this nickname because it took a police officer atop a white horse to clear the massive crowd from the field. Bolton Wanderers have the unfortunate distinction of playing the most seasons in the English First Division/Premier League without ever winning the title.
