Details:
Founded by members of the Middlesbrough Cricket Club during a February 1876 meeting at the Talbot Hotel. Joined the Football League in 1899. Highest-ever league finish was third in 1913-14. Reached the UEFA Cup final in 2006. The emblem includes a rampant lion, which is also in the city of Middlesbrough's coat of arms. The year 1986 on the emblem is the year the club was reformed after bankruptcy. The Riverside Stadium was given its name after a public vote by club supporters. The river in question is the Tees, which flows through the city of Middlesbrough.
